This is a one time reminder that at church last week we encouraged a
regular review of your personal giving with respect to a Christian's
response to God.
regular review of your personal giving with respect to a Christian's
response to God.
Points to remember:
1) Only the Finance members have access to giving and that is necessary
to comply with Federal tax requirement. Not even the elders are privy to
this information.
2) PAP and PAD do not change unless you personally make the changes. The
QR code makes changes easy but the Finance Committee is happy to help
make changes if the QR method does not work for you. Click here to go directly to the form.
3) The Cost of Living increases yearly and so overall congregational
giving needs to increase accordingly just to keep up with inflation.
4) Giving is a personal act of worship that needs to be prayerfully
discussed with God on a regular basis and modified accordingly.

From Joel Osbourne - Christmas was VERY busy but so very blessed for us. We had 126 (105 in person) for our Christmas worship and meal on Dec 21, and again over 70 on Christmas Eve, and then 80 on Dec 28 and 73 on Jan 4. Many guests that church members had invited and brought joined us, and there are several ways we could see God at work as people were touched by the gospel in the message and worship times, and in the warmth of the fellowship. This upcoming Saturday (Jan 10) is the wedding for Hiro's and my coworker, Seika Kimura, and Stewart Youngblood (who happens to be Kristin's coworker at Ibaraki Christian, as well as a member of Mito church). Hiro and I are officiating, of course. And then on Sunday, Seika's brother in law will preach the second of three messages required for his preaching class in seminary (and I will translate), and Monday (Jan 12) we will host the annual New Year's worship gathering for Japan School Evangelism (the CofC preacher school).
Joel also sent an update on Ai and a prayer request for Hideko Sekine who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Those are posted on Tintern's Prayer Hub.

Homestay Opportunities - Great Lakes Christian High School has some short-term visitors coming from Japan who are looking for a place to stay. The timeframes are either January 20 to March 28 OR, a shorter, March 18 to April 1. What a fantastic way to have a cultural experience in your home! If you are interested, please contact Tim Alexander (tim.alexander@glchs.ca) for details.
January CONNECT - On Saturday, Jan 17, We'll be at the Fleming Centre from 4:00 - 6:00pm with a rented room. Public skate is from 4:00 - 5:20pm. Pizza will be served in our room at 5:30pm. There is a small fee to skate which you can pay when you arrive. Though this is a Saturday, it is our monthly CONNECT event.

Save the Date - Ladies Spiritual Renewal Weekend. Date: October 23-25, 2026; Where: Hidden Acres Camp, New Hamburg. Please see the graphic below. Feel free to invite others to our 2026 Ladies Renewal Weekend. More details to follow.
Picture Bulletin Board - Thanks to those that have sent in their new pictures. New pictures are on the bulletin board with more to come. Margaret is still collecting family pictures to update our picture bulletin board.
Mud Season - With the wet and/or snowy weather coming, the parking lot becomes muddy! Please wipe off your shoes when you enter the building on the mats provided. Parents, encourage your children to do the same. Also, the exit door at the back of the Fellowship Hall is not an entry door. There are no mats there to remove mud/dirt/snow from shoes. Please re-enter through the main doors. Thank you!
Nonperishable Items - Giving More - Thanks to you, in 2025 Tintern was able to donate more than 840 items to our local food banks!! The 2026 challenge would be that we bring in even more items than 2025. For the month of January we are collecting canned goods. Anything in a can or jar would be appreciated. Remember those with food sensitivities or allergies. Everyone is welcome to participate. Let's beat our 2025 amount!!
