SuperBowl Chilli Cook-Off Results - Thanks to everyone who was part of our SuperBowl Friday Night Connect last week. Congratulations to the (Jeff and Suanne) Whitfield family who were the overall winners. Madison scored on 7 of her 10 bets for first place, while Suanne scored on 6 and Miranda scored on 5. Jeff only managed 3 but as a family they were by far the best of the lot.
Our secret chilli judges were unanimous in declaring Lorna's "White Bean Turkey Chilli" as the "best in class" while Caleb Perry's "Venison Vegetable Chilli" received the "People's Choice Award." A fun time was had by all. See you next year!

GL Chief Administrative Officer - With Don Rose's departure from his position as Chief Administrative Officer at the end of July, concluding twenty-seven years of dedicated service, we are pleased to introduce Amy Sandiford as the incoming CAO of Great Lakes Christian College (High School and Preschool), effective August 1, 2024. Amy is an Alumnus of Great Lakes Christian High School (2000) and has taught science, math, and nutrition with us for the past 19 years. Since 2017, she has used her gifts of organization and strategic planning as a member of our academic leadership team as Head of Guidance. As treasurer for the Beamsville church of Christ, Amy has developed her skills in nonprofit finance and governance. She also leads the Science Teachers' Peer Support Network through the Edvance Christian Schools Association, which has strengthened GLCHS' connection to other Christian schools across Ontario.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph (2004), which included the publication of her honours project in the British Journal of Nutrition. She completed her Bachelor of Education at Brock University (2005) and has since taken five Additional Qualification courses including Specialists in both Science Education and Guidance & Careers Education.
Amy and her husband Adam are long-standing GLCC corporation members and supporters. They are active members of the Beamsville church of Christ where Adam serves as the Worship and Administrative Minister. Their daughter attended Great Lakes Christian Preschool and looks forward to attending Great Lakes Christian High School. The Sandifords are engaged in the local Beamsville community. They support and value the work of other local non-profit organizations including Community Care of West Niagara, the Lincoln Pelham Public Library, and Gillian's Place.

When the CAO job was first announced my initial prayer was:
"God, please move in the heart of the best person for this job. Bring them forward and prepare them. Even if it's me. Even if it's not me. I don't know which of those is harder for me to consider."
"Even if it's me. Even if it's not me," has been my constant prayer for the past four months. In dozens of ways, I've heard back unwaveringly, "It's you." I am a details person and every detail I brought before God was answered clearly, specifically, and immediately. Inasmuch as I am able, I have submitted this choice to God's will. It is me. I trust that He has brought me forward. I trust that He will prepare me to lead GLCC's next steps.

Movie Marathon - Kids Grades 8 and down and their families are invited to the building this Sunday, February 18th for a movie marathon beginning at 5pm. There will be pizza and snacks. Bring something cozy to lounge in (i.e. a lawn chair, an air mattress, blankets to lay out). Showtimes are: Madagascar at 5:00pm; Megamind at 6:45; and Shrek at 8:30. Feel free to come and go.

Shelter Helps, El Salvador - Please pray for our trip to El Salvador on March 9th, we will be joining Shelter Helps Bethany church to assist in building homes. The Lord willing, by March 15th over 100 people will have a secure dry safe home to live in!! Training for Service - The Strathmore congregation is hosting a Training for Service Day at Great Lakes on Friday March 29 (Good Friday). More details to follow.
Good Friday Evening Service - We are looking forward to hosting a Devotional Service here at Tintern on Good Friday (March 29) at 7pm where we will mark the events of the day and reflect on the spiritual significance of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. The service will begin at 7pm and be about 1 hour long. It is suitable for the whole family. If you have any questions about it feel free to contact Noel.
Micah 6 Mission Trip - We are headed to Micah 6 in Pontiac, Michigan and are inviting anyone from the congregation who wants to join. The dates are Thursday, May 2 - Sunday, May 5. If you're interested in going, talk to Megan.
An Opportunity for Hospitality - We received a request from the Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer Event asking if our church would be willing to be a rest stop on this year's route. It's a great opportunity to support a great cause and be a good neighbour. We are looking for someone who could coordinate some volunteers here at Tintern. Would you be willing to help us host the group this year? Besides a coordinator, we are looking for people who could be on site mornings (9am - 1pm) and afternoons (1pm - 5pm) on Friday June 7th or Saturday June 8th. Reply if you like to help us be good hosts.

It will be held at the West Niagara Agricultural Centre, 7402 Mud St W, Grassie, Ont.
