September 15, 2022 eBulletin

Join us this Sunday for in-person service at 9:45 am. Masks are optional. If you are showing symptoms of COVID, please remain at home.

Making Space in September - This week over dinner with your family or over coffee with a friend, can you start a conversation about what it could look like to be intentional about leaving space for our neighbours?

A few ideas to get you started
-Can we give up TV for the month?
-Can we have our morning coffee on the front porch?
-Can we give up 1 of our 21 meals each week to have a meal with a neighbour?
-Can we delete our social media apps for the month?
-Can we sign up for the community care food drive?

We would love to hear the creative ways you come up with to make space and activities you plan for time in our community.

Kids Coin Collection - This Sunday is our coin collection. Our kids are going to help collect the money for the kids we are sponsoring. We are sponsoring two children through Christian Relief Fund, Gabriela Jordan (from Piedras Negras, Mexico) and Ambar Gonzales (from Tegucigalpa, Honduras). You can also etransfer money to tinternpayables@gmail.com, in the message box be sure to let us know that the funds are for the kids collection.

We hope to see new faces!  Attendance is not a commitment, but an opportunity to see what being on the missions committee entails so you can consider being part of the missions committee. If you would like to participate but cannot attend in person, let us know and we will send you a link to join us virtually. Please send a message to Don (don.rose@glchs.ca) and/or Jeremy (Jeremy.Cook@Lifemark.ca) if you have any questions or to let us know you will join us.

Harvest of Hope - Thanksgiving Hamper Program 2022 - Sept 14 - October 10
We're thankful for our community and the support it affords us to assist our neighbours in need. Now through October 15, A Village Gives Thanks during our Harvest of Hope. We’re setting a place at the table for our neighbours in need this year, that they may find hope and give thanks over a Family Thanksgiving Dinner. Our Sponsor a Family, will provide a Thanksgiving Food Hamper with all of the trimmings (and post-dinner leftovers for some time) to families in need in Lincoln. (A donation of $100 to sponsor a family is suggested, though donations at every level make our programs possible.)It takes a Village... Please Donate at villageofhopeniagara.org. Persistent economic insecurity in our community has seen family registrations at Village of Hope Niagara remain uncomfortably high, with so many for the first time in their lives seeking assistance from our foodbank.

Book Club - New Book: Where the Light Fell by Phillip Yancey.  Last week we had a great time discussing Shawna Niequist's book I Guess I Haven't Learned That Yet and a few folks wanted us to keep going with another book so here's your chance to get in on another Book Club gathering in November. We are going to be reading and discussing Phillip Yancey's autobiography Where the Light Fell.

You can order this book through Amazon: (https://www.amazon.ca/Where-Light-Fell-Philip-Yancey/dp/0593238508/ref=sr_1_1?crid=10DJSNLYGUSHK&keywords=where+the+light+fell&qid=1662579019&sprefix=where+the+light+fell%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-1) or from our favourite local bookstore Heritage Christian Books (https://heritagecbs.com/)

If you want to learn a little bit about the book you can click here (https://katebowler.com/podcasts/philip-yancey-the-scandal-of-grace/) to hear Kate Bowler interview Phillip as he talks about his life story and his faith journey within the church. If you're interested in being included in our next book discussion reach out to Julie or let Margaret know.  Stay tuned for a date for our book discussion in November.

We look forward to an evening hearing more about the centre happenings, fellowship with some new and familiar faces, enjoying special music, and being in awe of God’s work in our client’s lives too.
Doors open for this event at 5:30 pm, with the dinner starting at 6:30 pm. To register and sign up for your spot or table at the event, please click the link below. Seating this year will be limited, so sign up early to save your spot! REGISTER HERE
